Sawyer Roque is a freelance documentary filmmaker and photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her editorial work often focuses on women’s issues and social justice, and she approaches branded projects with the same foundation of truth. She specializes in vérité-style filming and character-driven stories, frequently on sensitive subject matter. She has conducted projects worldwide, from Lima, Peru to Chiang Mai, Thailand and across the United States.
Sawyer graduated from Western Kentucky University, where she studied photojournalism. She is a member of the Video Consortium and an affiliate member of the Documentary Cinematographers Alliance.
Her services include directing and producing; editorial, lifestyle, news, and portrait photography; and cinematography. She works as a local in NYC and Louisville, Kentucky and is part-time Senior Producer on The New York Times show, Popcast (Deluxe).
